Cookson Boats has earned the enviable position of being one of the world’s leading builders of custom hi-tech racing yachts. The company’s reputation is built on an excellent record of success on the international racing circuit. Cooksons are renowned for on-time, on-budget production of state of the art high-tech racing yachts. This, combined with the indefinable “Cookson Magic”, is the reason Cookson Boats is a major force in the world of racing yachts today.
32 years in the industry has done little to quell their quest for excellence. The company enjoys an excellent rapport with all the top designers, naval architects and engineers. Today construction is well underway on their one hundred and forty first composite yacht, none of which is possible without the discerning client base they have. Most enjoyable are the repeat clients who have witnessed first hand the leading edge of technology.
2004 saw the development of a new breed of yacht, a semi production racer/cruiser yacht, the Cookson 50. New technology was refined and developed to produce a fully resin infused carbon composite hull and deck. To enhance her performance on the water, she is fully equipped with a canting keel and trim tab. To date eight Cookson 50’s, with different configurations, are actively racing on the international circuit in the open classes with outstanding performances. The ninth will be on the water early 2007.
Just as the Cookson 50 class is taking on momentum, the TP52 Class has been a privilege to be involved in. Over the last two years, build slots have been quickly secured by the highest echelon of grand prix racing yacht owners. Cookson Boats has enjoyed the fierce competition with builders of these hi-tech carbon composite racing and is soon to start construction on its tenth TP52 for the 2007 season.
Being actively involved in the last four Americas Cup Campaigns has given Cookson Boats insight into new design technology and given them the opportunity to further advance their talents in the continual refinement of construction technology. They are constantly reminded of how the small, yet significant technological advances can be the difference between winning and losing.
